Starting in the beautiful Welsh Marches town of Montgomery the walk visits the ruins of the historic castle. Crossing the hidden valley onto the more ancient hill fort for a coffee break overlooking the Welsh border country. Then walk then ascends to the Montgomery Monument. From where the views are spectacular across Powys and Shropshire. We then descend across hill farmland and meadows to meet Offa's Dyke. Crossing the National footpath we cross undulating farmland and approach Montgomery from the south giving views of the historic town and castle as we approach across parkland.
Parking is available in the Town Square. Street parking is also available. Public toilets are available in the Town Hall building adjacent to the Square. Depending on finishing time it is intended that post-walk refreshments be taken at Kerry Vineyard. The cafe is situated in the vineyard and on a sunny day makes a perfect end to a walk.
The walk is moderate with ascent limited to the start of the walk.
