Overview

One of the Shropshire Way Festival of Walks for 2025 linking two short sections of the way around Haughmond Hill and Ebury Hill just outside Shrewsbury. The walk is about 8 miles along forest tracks, field paths and approximately half a mile of a minor road with 174m / 570ft of ascent. We'll start from the Forestry England car park on Haughmond Hill (all-day ticket £4.40 per car) at 10 o'clock and follow part of Wilfred (Owen)'s walk to a viewpoint before descending to join the Shropshire Way around the base of the hill, through Abbey Woods, Ebury Hill fort and campsite, and back via Haughmond Abbey ruins.
