Overview

Area Sunday Moderate Walk. Distances are generally 7 to 9 miles.

Linear Walk              No Booking Required

Leader - Jeff Lewis (0161 766 4683)

Distance - 9 miles

Meeting Place and Start of Walk - Bus V1 from stop SD on Princess Street (opposite the side of the art gallery  ---N.B. there has been some scaffolding up by  the stop --- it's the front one of the two stops) at 9.37. Timed to arrive at Sale Lane at 10.07. Useful to note that the stops on that stretch look like Metrolink ones, with platforms and rather similar signage,as they are on the guided busway.                                                                                                                                                                                 Car Parking - the bus from Leigh back to Sale Lane takes about 15 minutes. No recommendations for parking around Sale Lane.

Walk Route - Higher Green (Astley), Marsland Green Canal Bridge (possible lunch stop), Siddow Common, Pennington Flash Country Park, Canal side into Leigh

Expected time in Leigh - 16.15, next bus V1 to Manchester due 16.35 (they run half hourly)
