This scenic circular walk from Much Wenlock to Ironbridge and back offers a delightful blend of history, nature, and rural tranquillity. Starting in the charming town of Much Wenlock, the route takes us along an old railway line, offering easy terrain as you pass through open fields and past the stately Benthal Hall. The path then descends into Ironbridge, via the Woodland Trust steps through a beautiful forested area, immersed in the natural beauty of the Severn Gorge.
Upon reaching Ironbridge, you'll have time to explore the historic Iron Bridge itself, a symbol of the Industrial Revolution, and enjoy lunch at one of the local shops, the pub, or picnic spots nearby. The return journey follows another disused railway line before a steady climb to Wyke. Finally, the walk winds back across fields, returning you to Much Wenlock.
Though not without its challenges, this walk is well within reach for regular walkers, offering a perfect combination of historical landmarks, varied landscapes, and peaceful rural scenery.
