Overview

Following a walk through the woods in Barry Sidings Countryside Park open countryside is reached to cross fields, a short road stretch, and more fields and open spaces to reach an unusual memorial before returning via a community route.

Sticks would be helpful, there are a few muddy places easily navigated.

The views over Porth will be worth the climb, especially if the weather is good.

Descending the other side you will see England in the horizon.

Barry Sidings Country Park is just off the A4058 road between Pontypridd and Porth. If you are coming from Pontypridd the turning into the park is in the 40mph area just after a large yellow speed camera. Please take care as the turning is directly onto a narrow bridge. There is a sign to the park on the right hand side of the road by the turning after you have passed another sign for the park on the left hand side of the road.
