The walk begins at the “Blaen Bran Woodland Lower Carpark” clearly shown on Google Maps and with only 9 hours of daylight we should aim to start on time. The route winds through disused mine and quarry ground to reach open hillside where we climb some 400 feet to the plateau of Mynydd Maen. We exit the open access area into farmland before descending through woods to the Nant Gwyddon valley. A steep assent takes us back up some 700 feet before exiting the woods back into open access ground. Mostly good tracks take us past communication masts before a rough descent to woodland returning to our start point.
Lunch and coffee stops. Less than 5 stiles.
