We are the Mid Staffordshire Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A pre-lunch walk over part of the Sandon Estate.
Our walk starts from the layby near the Dog & Doublet, Sandon (A51/B5066 junction).
We will proceed up the lane to Sandon Church, then on to Sandon Old Hall and the Moated House. After crossing part of Sandon Estate via Lord Harrowby's Folly, we will walk around Pitt's Column, then join the Two Saints Way along the Trent & Mersey canal and the River Trent back to the Dog & Doublet.
There are two stiles, but on my recce both could be by-passed by adjacent gates. After all the wet weather it is a little muddy along parts of the canal towpath.
Following the walk we will drive to the Greyhound Inn, Burston (just a mile further north along the A51) for our New Years lunch.

The lay-by at the junction of the A51 and the B5066 adjacent to The Dog & Doublet, Sandon. Although there is room for about 20 cars, parking may be limited so you might want to consider car-sharing. Please pre-arrange this between yourselves, for example, meeting at Wildwood or at The Greyhound at Burston beforehand.
