Moel Famau, according to various sources, is pronounced 'moyl vamai' (likely best) or 'moyl vamau' or 'moyl vama' ...).
The Moel Famau Country Park, has been classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty since 1985. It is the highest hill in the Clwydian Range at 1,821 ft (555 m).
The tower on the summit, which was built to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of George III in 1810, is a Grade II listed building. It was designed like an Egyptian obelisk with three tiers.
There is a lot of contouring, but also significant ascents (though long rather than steep). The route includes part of Offa's Dyke. We contour round Fron Hen and then round the Clywd Forest.
Lunch is likely to be near the Coed Moel Famau Car Park (///scavenger.mailings.gave) where there are toilets.
Loggerheads County Park is to the east. We won't visit it, but it's worth a look (cafe, gift shop, history, nice walks).
