Overview

Starting at Newent Broad Street/ Court Lane Car Park (GL18 1AR) we'll head out of town doing battle with the pedestrian crossing lights to the other side of the B4221 before turning right down a quiet lane to find the hidden entrance to the Geopark Way. The path leads us along the banks of the old Hereford to Gloucester canal which met its demise when the railway arrived following much the same route before going much same way some years later.,Leaving the canal bank we'll turn right up a little land past the ancient looking Brook Cottage and into fields. The route loops left before joining a lane which will take us past Holders Farm, past Oxenhall Court and back to the canal. On the final leg we'll have a look at the old canal and railway bridge before wandering back to the cars. w3w: blacken.glorified.perkily If bad weather is forecast please check the group website (fodramblers.org.uk) to confirm that the walk is going ahead
