A chance to burn off some of that Christmas stuffing.
All welcome but mostly put on for the ornithologically minded rambler.
Ten to eleven mile moderate walk, starting at Newport Wetlands car park (£5). Lift share if you can.
Relatively easy walking across flat ground. A couple of bits of country road walking, so care required. Will probably be muddy in places.
There are bird hides en route for breaks. Not sure what birds to expect at this time of year but I did see a Montegu's/hen harrier on the recce. Bring some binoculars.
Some sheeps. Possible stile or two. Dogs with responsible owners welcome.
Hopefully there will be a starling murmeration at dusk, towards the end of the walk.
Dress appropriately. Cold, wet and muddy.
Finish before 5pm.
I will choose the option to cancel if weather is too poor.
Please text me if you are intending to come on the walk. I'm not sure what the response will be, but I will have to limit numbers to something manageable if it proves popular.
There is a café and loos at the Newport Wetlands visitor centre but the café closes at 4. Loos open until 5. Some come prepared.
