A beautiful walk in a new area. We will explore the Eastern edge of the North Wessex Downs National landscape (previously AONB) with spectacular views (weather permitting) and the villages to the West of Basingstoke. The route along paths, tracks and quiet roads, passing a 17th century moated farmhouse, a Norman motte and the site of an important 12th century Benedictine Priory. The route crosses the busy A339 twice.
There are no stiles and the paths are generally good. There is one section on a rutted track with possible mud. The route is undulating but there are no steep climbs. Wear appropriate footwear and clothing, including waterproofs. Bring Lunch, snacks and plenty of drink. There are no facilities on route.
