The walk begins at Dollar Museum, which is situated at the top of East Burnside, and ascends along a path through the very picturesque Dollar Glen until Castle Campbell is reached. The walk is on to open ground for a short distance after this point and it soon makes the steep, but short, climb up to Saddle Hill.
The terrain now becomes less challenging and an an anti-clockwise route is taken which ascends Whitewisp Hill and Tarmangie Hill as it goes round.
This is followed by a more gentle, descending terrain until the short but fairly steep ascent of King's Seat Hill is tackled.
It is now downhill, more or less, to Bank Hill and then back to the top of Dollar Glen where the route descends back to Dollar but on the opposite side of the glen from the one on which we started.
