Leaving the Village Hall Car park we walk through the village and leave by Hurdleditch Road. Crossing over and walking alongside the A603 we then head north to Cambridge Road Farm across Wimpole Avenue to join Ermine Street. Heading North alongside Ermine Street we pass through Arrington before entering the Wimpole Estate on the Harcamlow Way. There maybe an opportunity to pause at the Stable yard to pick up a coffee. Continuing East we make for Cobbs Wood and Rectory Farm lane. Recrossing the A603 we make for Toot Hill and back to the car park.
The walk offers a mixture of open countryside with views south across the Rhee Valley and into a mature coppiced woodland. A mix of roadside pavements and good trackways throughout. Anticipate seasonal mud. Stout footwear advised. There are a couple of stiles to be negotiated which are in good order.
Well behaved dogs on leads welcomed. Given the road side walking and livestock on the Wimpole Estate there is very limited opportunity to allow dogs off the lead.
We will see Wimpole Hall from a distance and close up as we move across Wimpole Avenue.
At the end of the walk there is an option to visit the Chequers Pub on Town Green Street Orwell for food and refreshments.
