Overview

This is a short "figure of eight" walk.  The northern lobe takes us around the landscape of Bluegates Farm to the north of the village after which the southern lobe climbs Partridge Hill and returns to the start over Claybush Hill.

Start time:
10:00 am
Estimated finish time:
12:15 pm
Difficulty:
Moderate
Distance:
8.9km / 5.5mi
Ascent:
91.4m / 300ft
Type:
circular

This is the first walk that your leader ever led.  The north part crosses the Rhee twice and the south part offers good views to the north and east.  Most of the route is on tracks and quiet roads but there are some potentially muddy stretches so proper walking boots are recommended.

Nevertheless Ashwell mud is probably not as sticky and heavy as elsewhere!

Refreshments in one of the three Ashwell pubs after the walk.

Features

  • Refreshments available (Pub/cafe)
