Overview

The first Winnie-the Pooh story was published in the London Evening News on the 24th of December 1925, and it was called The Wrong Sort of Bees based on a bedtime story that A.A. Milne told to his young son, Christopher. Its popularity led to Milne publishing his book ‘Winnie-the-Pooh’ in 1926, and an adapted version of this story became the first chapter.

We head to Withyham, then take the Wealdway to Fisher’s Gate and into the dark and mysterious100 Aker Wood (Five Hundred Acre Wood ) as we head uphill through it.Shortly after leaving the wood, we leave the Wealdway and head East  downwards toward the North Pole and  into Wrens Warren Valley with Eeyore’s Gloomy Place somewhere to the left of us.

After passing the stream, where Roo fell in and Pooh discovered the North Pole and used it to rescue Roo, we climb up to Galleons Lap (Gills Lap) also known as the Enchanted Place at the very top of the Forest. We pass the Heffalump Trap and Lone Pine before stopping at the Milne and Sheppard Memorial for a Picnic lunch after 5 miles.

After Lunch we return to Hartfield via Pooh Sticks bridge, where we stop briefly to play Pooh Sticks, and pass the Shop at Pooh Corner before returning to the carpark.

Option drink in The Bear Inn.
