A walk up to the summit of the historic Pendle Hill, with some great views, and beyond.
Starting from The Avenue Car Park in Barley, we will take the classic anti-clockwise route, following The Pendle Way up the iconic stone steps to the top of Pendle Hill. We will then descent via the (now lesser used) Boar Clough ravine down to Ogden Reservoir where we intend to pause for lunch. From there we will ascend through the atmospheric Fell Wood before crossing farmland to reach Newchurch-in-Pendle. After pausing for an optional ice-cream from "The Witches Cabin" we will continue north east towards White Hough before following the river back to our start point.
The Cabin Cafe next to the car park is open from 10.00.
There are public toilets at the cafe car park as well as one in Newchurch-in-Pendle (if open)
Although only 7 miles in length, those wishing to do so should bring a packed lunch to eat whilst we pause at lunchtime.
Optional visit to a Pub in Barley after the walk for further refreshment.
