Overview

Starting at Pin Mill car park, we will skirt around woodland, then follow the coastal path, alongside the River Orwell, and on to Shotley. From there we will follow the coastal path along the River Stour to Alton Water. We will pass the reservoir and head into Holbrook, before returning to Chelmondiston and Pin Mill via quiet country lanes and rural footpaths.

This is a long walk and therefore it will be essential to pack water to keep hydrated, and snacks/sustenance to keep energy levels up!

There will be several pubs where we can stop for refreshments, and we will endeavour to stop for lunch in Shotley, at either The Shipwreck, or Bristol Arms.

Parking is charged at circa 30 pence per hour. Cash and card are accepted. Toilets are available in the nearby Butt and Oyster pub before and after the walk.
