Nature brushes up against urban life, the former in the lovely scenery and watery habitats around the inner areas of Poole Harbour, and the latter in the residential development in this part of the sprawling Poole town conurbation, displaying a rich mix of housing styles. There is also a particularly fine architectural example of a Lidl. The route is almost completely flat and on good paths except for one stretch near the water that can be muddy. It involves beach (a bit), waterside, heath and woodland tracks and some paved walkway, and a walk past Upton Country Park’s grounds. You will enjoy a variety of sights, with beautiful views including the Purbecks and the inner bays of the harbour, where a wide variety of birdlife and boating could be on display. Planned snack stop in a spot that suits space and weather at leader’s discretion.
Note: there is no lunch stop for this walk but option for refreshments at The Yachtsman after the walk (a short drive away).
