A festive walk enjoying views from Askham Fell over Ullswater.
This is a circular route starting from Pooley Bridge ascending to Roehead and The Cockpit. It is almost all downhill from there, along tracks to Auterstone, Thwaitehill, Seat Farm, Waterside House and return along the shore of Ullswater to Pooley Bridge.
There are NO stiles along the route.
The public toilets near the start in Pooley Bride are CLOSED for the winter! We could use the facilities in the Sun Inn at the end of the walk and perhaps have some refreshments.
The weather forecast is GOOD but COLD. Some paths or the roadway may be slippery in places if there is a frost. It may be worth wearing gaiters on the day in case any muddy bits have not frozen.
At the end of the walk there are café / pub options available.
Park in the car park close to the Sun Inn (cost £4 for the day). If you are lucky, there are about 12 free parking spaces on the main road opposite the car park!
