Moderate c. 7 mile (c. 11 km) walk around Pyrford Village. We will be starting and finishing at Pyrford Common Recreation Ground and walking through through Pyrford Common, farm land, River Wey Navigation between Waltham and Pyrford Locks, Pyrford Green, and FPs across a couple of golf courses.
Walk is mainly on FPs, BWs and along the canal. There are three minor road crossings and a couple of short distances on pavements. There are no stiles, one FB,a couple of golf courses and three moderate ascents (total ascent 118m).
We will make short stops at St Nicholas Church (Norman with views across the Wey Valley and Newark Priory), Waltham Lock and fish run, John Donne’s Cottage and Pyrford Lock.
Approximately 2 ½ hours walking time. With stops say 3 hours total.
Meet at Pyrford Common Recreation Ground car park (corner of Old Woking Road and Pyrford Common Road, GU22 8UA; BNG TQ 028 591). Car parking is free, but there are height-restrictions at the entrance.
