Walking in Woking and beyond
We are an active, small and friendly walking group with members from diverse backgrounds. We enjoy invigorating walks through stunning countryside in the western half of Surrey and sometimes, east Berkshire, north east Hampshire or West Sussex.
Each week, we typically have at least two, 5-7 mile walks — sometimes further, on various days of the week, including usually on Saturdays. Our walks are generally of a leisurely or moderate nature over unsurfaced rural paths and are not overly strenuous.
Many of these walks are in the Surrey Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is protected land. Other walks may include features of significant historical interest or Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
Unless especially mentioned in the walk description, booking is not required and we welcome visitors from other Ramblers groups or guests trying out one or two Ramblers walks before joining.
Join our walking community
We enjoy a reputation as an inclusive group, welcoming both members from other Ramblers Groups and guest walkers alike, to enjoy the mental wellbeing and physical benefits of walking. Guests are encouraged to try a walk or two with no obligation.
Most walks are in small groups but in the event of a larger number of walkers, we generally have a back-marker, so there's no need to worry about being left behind! The times shown are the actual start times so please arrive a few minutes early, to get booted up and for a short briefing.
As a member, you’ll also be eligible to receive our quarterly group e-newsletter, and be invited to join our group social events and optional footpath working parties.
To join us simply register and choose Woking Ramblers Group. You’ll be able to receive discounts on gear and have access to the Ramblers smartphone app.
