Sence Valley is a relatively new Country Park from re-claimed opencast mining. It has recovered after a fire some years ago destroyed a considerable amount of woodland. New areas expanding the park have been planted and are now starting to mature. Snibston is a tiny village with only a handful of houses and St Mary's church the smallest in Leicestershire. Ellistown Brickworks was part of Ellistown Colliery until it split into a separate company in 1936.
