Overview

From Hirwaun Library, we will follow the River Cynon for a short distance then pass through ‘The Gloucesters’ before proceeding along the Mineral Line between Hirwaun and Penderyn.  Morning tea will be at the end of the line.  In Penderyn, we follow the road up to the Red Lion and St Cynog’s church to then either follow a grassy / greasy path, or the road, back down to Yr Eithin for lunch.  We return to Hirwaun along the Mineral Line, going around the Iron Works before heading back to the car park. Much of the walk is on well-formed paths or roads.  While this is an easy walk, there is a hill between Penderyn and the church.
