A walk suitable for beginners. This walk starts at the Resolven, canal car park just off the roundabout of the A465.
The first part of the walk has a short climb, and although the path is easy to follow it is slightly over grown. The walk then follows footpaths through Craig Nedd towards Abergarwed, before crossing the road towards Melin Court.
We will then continue up to Melin Court Waterfall, when we will be able to see the focal point of the walk Melin Court waterfall. Continuing the walk along St Illtyd' walk back to the starting point along some woodland paths.
There is an option to finish the walk here at Resolven canal car park (approx 3.5 miles / 2 hours) or to continue up on the Neath Canal path to Ty Banc for a hot beverage. (Total of 5 miles / 3 hours to return to the starting point after a beverage).
There are public toilets at the start / finish.
The opening and closing stretches of this walk are through attractive woodland, but the focal point is the dramatic Melin Court Waterfall or Sewd Rhyd Hegg. It is an easy walk that enables you to see the fall of both from the base and the top and there are fine views over the well wooded Vale of Neath.
Ty Banc an old Lengthmens cottage, is the perfect location to get a hot or cold beverage towards the end of the walk.
