A lovely walk with history that will takes us on the outskirts of Porthcawl.
We will pass through the village of Nottage and circle around to the mansion that gave rise to the story of the Maid of Sker.
We then join the Wales Coast Path and walk out onto the foreshore.
Here we will see the Marble memorial plaque which marks the spot where in 1947 the Mumbles Lifeboat came to rest on its Ill-fated attempt to rescue the crew of the Samtampa.
The Samtampa had got into difficulties in a heavy storm. All eight members of the Lifeboat crew were lost.
Our return to Rest Bay will be along the Wales Coast Path, passing the Royal Porthcawl Golf Club. You can see a video of the coast path with Sker House in the distance from the Golf Club Home page
