Overview

Richards Castle, near to Ludlow, was once a thriving medieval town.  We will be walking its old paths and tracks, its common land, and visiting its castle and church and passing the green where its market was once held.  The ascent up to the common is slow and gentle 'though at times the route is a little rough underfoot.  We will be stopping for a break at the newly acquired wildlife meadow.  There are only three stiles on the route, but a degree in gate opening will be an asset.

(check the time) - you need to get off at All Saints church, but a lift back into Ludlow is advisable. If driving, pass through Batchcroft, on the B4361 and up a slight slope, see the church in front of you and turn R into the overflow car park for All Saints church, on the corner of the lane.
