A walk from Richmond Station to the River Thames and an attractive stroll by the Thames and continue across meadows to the village of Petersham. Then there is an easy climb on to the ridge above the river, and the rest of the route is through the woodland and across the rough grassland of the park visiting the Isabella Plantation along the way. Towards the end there is the classic and still beautiful view over the winding Thames from Richmond Hill. Bring a packed lunch. There are opportunities to buy a drink. There are toilets in Richmond Park.
There is an option of turning back to Richmond town after refreshments at Pembroke Lodge making it a 4.5-mile walk.
