This is a 'Green Walk' accessed by public transport (bus or train to Glasgow City Centre.
This walk follows the River Kelvin from the outskirts of the city in Maryhill to where it joins the Clyde in Partick at the Riverside Transport Museum. The walk can be extended to follow the Clyde Walkway to the city centre
We meet at the Donald Dewar statue at the top of Buchanan Street at 10.30 and walk to Hope Street for bus journey to the West of Scotland Science Park off Maryhill Road (NS560698). Remember to bring bus pass if you have one. The walk will finish at the Riverside Transport Museum (NS557659) where on crossing the Clyde via the new bridge the return journey to the city centre can be made by bus or underground. Those wishing to continue may walk into the city centre via the Clyde Walkway.
The walk is on good paths by the river and in parkland. There are numerous places of interest along the route reflecting Glasgow's industrial past - paper, corn and flint mills, the canal and aqueduct - numerous road and rail bridges in different styles - as well as the Victorian grandeur of the west end parks and Kelvingrove Museum and Gallery.
