A walk in "Bolton's Lake District", starting from Rivington and advancing beside lakes and up heavily wooded cloughs to reach the West Pennines' high, open moorland and a Neolithic monument. Return via some of Lancashire's oldest woodland.

The public car park is along the narrow lane beside the School, immediately east of Upper Rivington Reservoir Dam on Horrobin Lane.
