Initially following the River Derwent from Rowsley village, we ascend the archaeologically-significant Moor, an Ancient Monument, passing the Cork Stone and the Nine Ladies stone circle. Stanton Moor has many Bronze Age sandstone features including stone circles and cairns, and some relatively modern such as the Earl Grey 1832 Reform Tower. It also enjoys wild heather in season. A walk with trails, footpaths, a wood, farm and Moor; six stiles.
Risk assessment: one busy road to cross outbound & return. Six stiles and other path furniture. One field may have cattle grazing. This is the Peak District so steep and/ or rocky trails, possibly muddy or other slippery sections, inclement weather & farm livestock. You therefore need to stay alert and take individual responsibility
