An overnight sea front walk exploring a section of the Saxon Shore Way. Starting at 22:30 Saturday in Whitstable, ending in Margate 08:00 Sunday. This is a joint walk with Metropolitan and Capital Walkers.
Arrive earlier in the day to have wander round Whitstable and enjoy its many attractions. Join us for fish and chips (other options are available) and a pint on the beach outside the Sea Farmers Dive, from 7pm. Suggest not drinking too much, as although its a fairly flat along the sea front, it is a long walk.
- Watch the sunset (21:13) on the beach
- Walk the coast path. A full moon should be lighting us up, but just in case, bring a torch.
- Watch sunrise whilst walking along.
- Finish walk in Margate on beach.
- (optional) A paddle in the sea should be possible.
- (optional) Breakfast Best Beano Cafe opens 8.00am.
Bring drinking water and a packed meal – we will aim to stop on the cliff tops above Reculver which is about half way – although we’ll have a short break both before and after this. There are a couple of water refill points on the way but please do bring water with you. No shops will be open, so you'll need to bring and carry what you need.
Please bring appropriate clothing. It is likely to be a lot cooler than during the day. Stopping for a break, you may also get cold.
There are a couple of 24 hour toilets on route.
The walk ends at Margate Beach at around 8:00 Sunday morning.
Travel: Trains to Whitstable are available from London Victoria or St Pancras.
