Leaving Hartshorne we walk through landscape in which the telly tubbies would feel at home (Repton Shrubs) and into the village of Repton, admiring the impressive spire of its parish church. Here we will visit the community cafe at the village hall for our morning break.
On leaving Repton we pass by buildings belonging to Repton school, to emerge into some pretty countryside. We climb very steadily out of the Trent valley to Bretby where we’ll stop for lunch on the village green.
We depart Bretby through the grounds of Bretby Hall, through the weirdly named Hoofies Wood back to Hartshorne.
Repton village is noted for St Wystan's Church, for Repton School, for the Anglo-Saxon Repton Abbey and for the medieval Repton Priory.
There are stiles after Repton, approximately 10, and one gate that I didn’t have the strength to open (so climbed over)!
Toilets and refreshments are available at Repton village hall.
As parking is on road, please park considerately.
