Overview

We start off from the car park at Seaton Sluice on the Tyne and Wear Heritage Way to the Holywell pond Nature Reserve.  Then via Seaton Burn to Brier Dene and the coast where we rejoin the Heritage Way back to the car park via St Mary’s lighthouse.

Bring your binoculars so that we can spend 10 minutes or so in the hide looking at the birds on Holywell pond – depending on time and weather.

Woodland trails, waggonway track, field footpaths (muddy on our pre-walk in mid-February) hard surface by the sea.  7 stiles. 2 main roads to cross. A few steeper sections of woodland trail, but these are stepped.

Coffee and lunch stops. End of walk tea/coffee etc at the Castaways Tea Rooms or the Kings Arms, depending when we finish.
