Overview

This is a leisurely 6mile coastal walk with a few steps, a couple of slopes and a little mud. We meet at the car park which is just off the roundabout on the coastal road at Seaton Sluice. This CP has toilets and is very popular so come early to ensure a parking place. We walk down into the harbour area and then up a slope and along the coastal path to Collywell Bay past “Charlies Garden” rock formation. We follow the clifftop path to St Marys Island Nature reserve, which we will cross over to, if tide and weather permit. There are frequently Seals at the reserve. We continue along the (often muddy) Links and on to Whitley Bay North Promenade to the ”Rendezvous Café” (toilets) where we halt for lunch. Some may want to use the café. We then reverse our route to Seaton Sluice where there are plenty of opportunities for refreshments.
