We start at Newark Lane car park, which the day I did my reconnaissance was the muddiest part of the walk.
Th walk is flat with a total rise of only 42 feet. There are no stiles and only two gates. We start by walking upstream along the river Wey passing Papercourt Lock and keepers cottage. Then along the Wey Navigation to Tannery Lane Mill The path then meanders through open farm land growing brassicas before we reach the sailing club on Papercourt Lake. We walk along the lake shore hopefully if the day is fine watching the dingies sailing in the wind, then back to the start along Newark Lane.
If you have any queries, please contact the Walk Leader by text on their mobile number.
There are 3 road crossings with fairly good sightlines where we cross. The paths were firm with few tree roots or other obstacles. As long as the river doesn't over-flow its banks there should not be too much mud. If the Wey does flood I will take a shorter route of just under two miles.
At the end of the walk we could stop at the Seven Stars for a coffee, beer or lunch.
