We’ll follow the seafront all the way from Shoeburyness to Leigh-on-Sea, with a walk out to the end of Southend Pier included. (Dogs are not permitted on the pier). There’s a small entry fee for the pier (apx £3 – card or cash accepted).
We’ll stop for lunch at the pier head, where there’s a café, bar, and toilets.
At the end of the walk, there’s the option to stop in Old Leigh for a pint of cockles, an ice cream, candy floss, some chips, a drink, or all of the above.
Transport and Parking:
-
Trains: Both Shoeburyness and Leigh-on-Sea stations are on the C2C line, with regular trains throughout the day.
-
Driving: Parking is available at both stations, but if the weather’s good, local traffic on August weekends can be bad especially mid to late afternoon. A good alternative is to park at Pitsea Station (SS16 4UD) and take the train from there to avoid the bottlenecks.
