Overview

This 12-mile or so circuit from the outskirts of Ashford, explores the parkland of the Godinton Park Estate, as well as the villages of Hothfield & Great Chart, plus a visit to a secluded lake & waterfall.

Leaving Singleton we head towards the nearby lake, before passing through Bucksford Meadow and across the sports fields of football & cricket in Great Chart. Joining the Greensand Way, we head along Chart Avenue and into the parkland of Godinton House Estate. We will visit Hothfield Lake and Waterfall before continuing onward through Hothfield to reach Little Chart Forstal. If time allows and we are making good progress we will continue for a pub stop at The Swan, which will add another mile or so to the total.

Next up we pass through Rooting Manor, continuing to Rippers Cross then Worten & Goldwell and back to Great Chart, from where there are a couple of finishing options once back in Great Chart.

Snack break en route as per usual, and possible pub stop on the walk, but there is a pub at the finish.

Likely to be some mud !

Walk leader is Kevin Hall
