The walk leaves the Blackwood Retail Park, following the Sirhowy River as it flows south, it uses footpaths narrow forest paths that are being narrowed by ferns and brambles, bring your secateurs and snip a few brambles on the walk. The drop down from the forest section to join section of the National Cycle Network, Route 47. This route is ideal in the sunny weather as it is predominantly bordered by trees. We pass the cottage of Arthur (Artie) Ernest Moors who picked up the SOS message from RMS Titanic
Sections of the forest tracks have loose stones, the width of the track is limited, subject to water erosion, one side to the track is adjacent to a down hill. Walking sticks and boots are recommended.
