There are two options for the first 1.5 miles of the route to the end of the lake.

Option A following the official route on the North side of the lake. Unfortunately this route is not suitable for anyone with joint/mobility problems or if you are nervous of crossing bouldery terrain. Local grade C+

Option B walk on the pavement along the side of the A5. A bit noisy but the same fabulous views and it's easier to take them in! Slightly shorter and local grade D

Both groups then follow a track the rest of the way. It is fairly flat but can be muddy and wet in places after wet weather.
