Overview

Starting from the village of Sollom, a West Lancashire Conservation Area, a walk across Holmeswood Moss using farm tracks and rights of way. The walk first follows the A59 for half a mile then crosses over into Sandy Lane passing Moss Side Farm to follow a field edge path by Smithy Wood. A farm track is then followed to join Hunter's Lane and to pass Hunter's Plantation. After following the metalled Green Lane the walk returns to Sollom after re-crossing the A59 road.
A recce on 21-10-24 found the paths and tracks to be generally easy to walk but with a few large puddles which were easy to walk around. Potato harvesting was going on in one field which may leave the field edge path slightly uneven. The distance turned out to be slightly longer than expected from just under to just over 5 miles. There are no stiles.
