Walking in West Lancashire
Welcome to West Lancashire Ramblers.
Most of our 150 members live in the borough of West Lancashire but some come from other areas. Wherever you live you are welcome to join West Lancashire Ramblers.
Most of our walks are in or close to West Lancashire but we do travel to other areas. such as the Wirral and Sefton. If you do not like climbing steep hills, then walking with us in the West Lancashire countryside is for you.
We have walks that involve a gentle climb, but many are through the flat countryside that surrounds our towns and villages. We also travel further afield and enjoy walks around Rivington, Bowland and the Ribble Valley.
If you are not yet a Ramblers member, feel free to join one of our walks, speak to some of our members, then decide if West Lancashire Ramblers is for you. You will be made most welcome!
Why join the West Lancashire Group?
Each month our programme usually includes a Wednesday and two Sunday walks. Afternoon walks are 5-6 miles in length, our longer 7-8 mile walks start in late morning and include a sandwich lunch stop. We also include shorter, easy-paced,3-4 mile rambles in our programme.
If you are unsure about joining a walk then try one of our shorter walks. The leader on these will set a more leisurely pace. Our leaders are happy to be contacted before a walk. They will happily explain to you what the walk involves.
Our walks are led by experienced, safety-conscious members who will make sure that no-one falls behind. Join us for an enjoyable day or afternoon of walking.
