This varied circular and hilly walk starts in the historic village of Standon, once a thriving market town in the valley of the River Rib.
We climb out of the valley to cross the Roman road Ermine Street before heading back into Plashes Wood, home of the lost medieval village of Plashes, now a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Its diverse ground flora include bluebells and dog's mercury.
Returning to the valley at Latchford, we pass the Standon Lordship, the remnants of a former manor house, before returning to the start for well-earned refreshments at a local hostelry.
This is a moderately-paced walk. We want everyone to enjoy our walks. If you have any concerns about the pace, please contact the walk leader.
Please bring your Ramblers membership card (if you have one) to help speed up the walk registration before we start the walk.
