Hello Everyone
Telford beckons us this Sunday with walk leaders Barry & Pam who know the area and it's heritage well. Starting from Stirchley we'll wend our way via good tracks and paths, some of which hail from a bygone industrial age as former railways, tramways, and old roads that connected local working communities together. The walk is mainly on the flat with just a couple of stiles and three steady climbs. There's plenty of shade throughout should it turn out warm again.
As always you're most welcome to join us. If this is your very first time with the group it'd be ideal if you could let us know you'll be coming along a day or two beforehand please. Ta very much.

No facilities at the start or during the walk. However, Shifnal Services just off M54 Junction 4 are approximately ten minutes from the start point if you're arriving from the east via the M54, or the A5 & A4640.
⚠️If you are travelling via the A5 please be aware there's a large motorbike rally taking place in Weston Park which may cause disruption particularly on the journey home.
Post walk refreshments to be taken locally. Barry & Pam will know somewhere decent!

Directions primarily for our own members, but good for anyone arriving on M54 from the Cannock direction, sans-nav perhaps. The start is located a mile or so off the A442 on the eastern side of Telford.
From your home location pick up either the A460 to M54 Junction 1, or the A5 westbound via Weston-under- Lizard, straight over the A41 island soon after, and continue until eastern edge of Telford at Priorslee where turn left at the island onto the A4640, direction M54 (Junction 4), where you may wish to make use of the services by going straight over the motorway, left onto the A464, then left again into the services driveway where follow the signage through. Then retrace onto the A464 and back towards the motorway island.
At this point take the A464, direction Bridgnorth, and continue over the Obelisk island to the next island (Randlay Interchange) where left onto the A442, again direction Bridgnorth. Proceed for exactly 1 mile to the Stirchley Interchange island where exit slip and right hand lane to cross over the A442 and turn left before the petrol station to enter suburban Telford.
Follow the course of this road (Holmer Farm Road) for 700 yards to the next island where straight across and continue for another 700 yards along Brookside Avenue to turn right into Stirchley Road (photo above).
Follow Stirchley Road for 400 yards, around the right hand bend, then for a further 800 yards where turn left into Grangemere (photo) signed for Grange Pool car park which is set back off the road on your left 125 yards later.⚠️Height restriction of 2 mtr.
Anglesey Street rail station car park, Hednesford, adjacent to Hednesford Ex-servicemen's Club midway down the street, not the Poundstrecher car park nearer to the town centre. ⚠️Height restriction. Meet here for a prompt 08.30 departure.
Grange Pool public car park situated off Grangemere, Stirchley, Telford & Wrekin, Shropshire. ⚠️2mtr height restriction. No charges. Satnav and What3words recommended for total accuracy.
