A level and varied walk, starting at The Chequers pub, with quiet street crossings through Stotfold and out to paved paths under the big skies and open fields of drained fenland. We walk on to a medieaval church in Astwick dedicated to a Fenland saint where we have a coffee break. We go on to a picturesque old watermill on the Ivel river and finish in a 'secret' nature reserve which doesn't appear on any OS map. The Chequers pub is just beyond the second, still working, watermill.
Includes: Some low river paths so if recent weather has been rainy, the ground may be boggy. Calm horses in one field. Some street crossing. Some uneven field walking.
Parking: The Chequers pub if you plan to visit afterwards. Tuesday's food special is 2 for 1 burgers. Tel: 01462 411218
Or park in local streets or in St Mary's Church SG5 4NE car park behind the pub.
