A route for the low seasons, mostly firm underfoot, the hill climb out of the way early on to warm up and while still fresh, some cracking views (weather permitting) with pub lunch nearly two-thirds of the way round, and a shorter and largely level return leg.
Firstly up Kingston Ridge for a pretty stiff climb up onto Swanborough Hill, but then a gentle descent along the South Downs Way (SDW) with panoramic views back to Lewes, over the top of Mount Caburn, and on a clear day across the Ouse valley to Newhaven and Seaford Head. After dropping down to the Abergavenny Arms PH, Rodmell for lunch, the return is along the Greenwich Meridian Trail (GMT) past Iford back to the start in Kingston.
