Tanfield Village/ Causey Arch
A 5.5 mile, moderate, walk will start and finish at the 'Bayberry Hollow' Bistro & Store at Tanfield Village DH9 9PX, which is a lovely cafe/restaurant with a good menu for hungry walkers when we finish. Parking in car park attached or nearby.
The Walk which is a 5 1/2 circular starts from behind the Bayberry north to Crookbank farm, then east before we join a heritage trail path through some very nice woodlands and emerge on a B road near causey station, we branch of that road and follow the path to Causey Arch an ancient bridge built in 1725 and is the oldest surviving single span arch in the world, we follow the steps up with a handrail and a seat half way to the top path and make our way back to Tanfield Village via fields and good views.
