Overview

A walk which incorporates the extensive network of paths and tracks on the southern side of the Teign Valley, between Steps Bridge and Fingle Bridge. Most of the walk will be in woodland, which should be very colourful as the autumnal colours will be near their peak.

Estimated finish time:
5:00 pm
Difficulty:
Moderate
Distance:
20.1km / 12.5mi
Ascent:
N/A
Type:
circular

The total distance will be 12.5 miles and I have graded it as moderate overall, but note that there will be some steep climbs during the first half of the walk, making it strenuous at times. The return route from Fingle Bridge back to Steps Bridge is notably flatter and more straightforward as we follow the River Teign itself nearly all the way. I would recommend bringing a torch as a precautionary measure as it may well be getting dark by the time we arrive back at the starting point.
