Lyreco are one of Telford's biggest single employers, and one of the 'greenest'. This is an opportunity to see their 55,000 square metres warehouse, with its 14,000 rooftop solar power arrays that help power the site and their fleet of electric vehicles. You can see their gallery exhibition of award winning photos of our outstanding local countryside, and visit their Eco Garden and beehives. The footpath to Granville Country Park and Local Nature Reserve is adjacent to the site (and used by the company's own walking group, the company encourages walking too!) Following the company tour there is a walk around 3 Miles to explore Granville Country Park with its woods and enjoy fantastic views across Shropshire. This is a rewilded site which was once one of the biggest mining area in the country. This is an opportunity to see what can be achieved on 'old and new brownfield sites' to ensure 'a greener future'. Please BOOK – booking is essential due to limited numbers. This is part of Telford & Wrekin Council's Walk Week. Hot drink refreshments will be provided. There will also be an opportunity to purchase food at the staff canteen restaurant or you can bring a packed lunch to eat in the Eco Garden afterwards (weather permitting). Suitable for adults 18+, children and dogs are not permitted due to working environment. NB the visit to the rooftop solar farm involves climbing a number of steps, there are also series of steps and some unsurfaced bare soil and grassed paths in the CP and LNR, some of which can be muddy at times, please wear suitable footwear.
