A 10 mile walk through the Warwickshire countryside, passing through charming villages on the way.

From the village car park we walk for a couple of minutes along the country road as far as Grafton Court, which we pass through before taking a track. Then another short road stretch and thence to more field paths.

Walking by the mediaeval Hillsborough Manor and then by the side of Bidford Golf Course, we arrive at our coffee stop.

Continuing on, we get to the village of Bidford on Avon which has several old timber framed buildings and a road bridge dating from the 1400's.

At this point we join the Heart of England Way and to the tiny hamlet of Broom and on to our lunch stop at the Fish at Wixford. This is situated on the banks of the River Arrow,
a large tributary of the Avon.

After lunch, we continue on the Way to Oversley Castle, an ancient Motte and Bailey fortification, sadly no longer standing.

We follow the contours around the hill, where we leave the Heart of England Way and follow a local footpath for a few hundred yards before picking up the Arden Way into the village of Exhall and then more local paths to Ardens Grafton.

Passing a row of pretty stone cottages you will have the opportunity of calling home from the village telephone box which has a fully working phone within.
(Remember those?)

Leaving the village, another three fields sees us onto New Lane, whither we arrive back
at the cars.
