Dictionary definition :- A jitty is a narrow passage between buildings or a footpath enclosed on either side by parallel hedges, walls or fences. Other names – alleyway, cut, entry, ginnel, snicket, or twitchel.
Leaving the car park on foot, we soon encounter the first jitty, then paths and tracks to Hollycroft Park. The next one takes us to an uphill path to Sandy Walk, then we reach Richmond Park. Passing Asda and The Big Pit, we have coffee in Queens Park, eventually reaching The Lime Kilns for our pub stop.
The Ashby Canal takes us to Coventry Road, then along the Battling Brook path, Hollycroft Park, and back to our cars.
Mud alert – The morning is mostly on hard paths, p.m. should be ok with usual muddy towpath sections.
Afterwards, everyone is welcome to enjoy tea and cake in Wendy and Trevor’s garden, to celebrate a special birthday.
